Deputy Prime Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob revealed that 4,839 vehicles were stopped at roadblocks and asked to turn back on Saturday — the highest recorded figure in a day since the National Recovery Plan was implemented last month.

Ismail said interstate travel permits from the international trade and industry ministry (MITI) had been disallowed until Wednesday to prevent abuse by those attempting to return to their hometowns for Hari Raya Aidiladha, which will be celebrated on Tuesday
Interstate travel and visits during Hari Raya Aidilfitri in May had led to a surge in the number of Covid-19 cases and clusters,

Our advice to those trying to sneak back to their hometowns is: don't do it. Why take the risk and possibly add yourselves and your loved ones to the statistics?
