After a long wait, movie lovers can now rejoice as GSC has announced that it is finally reopening its cinemas on Malaysia Day. 17 GSC and Aurum Cinemas in the Klang Valey, Northern, and Southern region will open on the September 16, 2021, with more locations reopening on September 23.
Under the National Recovery Plan, cinemas in Phase 2 states were allowed to operate from September 9. However, operators had decided to delay their reopening while awaiting the clarification of SOP guidelines and for content preparation purposes
The current SOP regulations allow for cinemas to operate from 8am to 10pm with half seating capacity and one-metre social distancing in place. All employees must be fully vaccinated and pass a Covid-19 screening test.
Only fully vaccinated and masked individuals are allowed to enter (too bad, anti-vaccers and anti-maskers!), upon showing proof of full vaccination via the MySejahtera app. below 18 years of age are not allowed to enter
